Teaching Focus/Philosophy

As an educator, I believe first and foremost it is my responsibility to create life-long learners. Imparting a thirst for the eternal quest for knowledge is a gift that lasts a lifetime. This is accomplished through the artful dance of innovative and creative teaching practices that engage and inspire students to learn about themselves, 彼此, 和社会. Students then pass on this knowledge through mindful engagement in the counseling field. I try to instill in our students not only knowledge but also the desire to advocate for social justice and to make a difference in people's lives.

Research Interests

I engage in research that addresses best practices in higher education, specifically the training of graduate-level students and the development of innovative programming to develop competent clinicians consistent with APA accreditation guidelines.

另外, I engage in research addressing best practices regarding the treatment of suicide loss survivors and postvention, and the loss of a client by suicide. This data underpins the development of trainee modules for students in our program.
